Grenfell: A long wait for justice - if it ever comes
Welcome to the ITV News digest bringing you the best of our original journalism, insight and analysis from across the nation and regions.
Hello, I’m Rags Martel, a reporter with ITV News London. I’ve been reporting on Grenfell since the day of the fire.
This week, seven years in the making, the Inquiry published its final report into the disaster.
It concluded Grenfell was the “culmination of decades of failure” by central government and the “systematic dishonesty” by product manufacturers.
But the publication of the report is not the end of justice for Grenfell. It’s actually the beginning. The focus now changes from the Inquiry to the criminal investigation.
Some 72 people died and yet no one has been charged. Bereaved and survivors have called on police to “deliver justice”.
For our What You Need To Know podcast, we look at Operation Northleigh - the Met’s Grenfell police investigation. It has 180 full-time officers, a warehouse of evidence the size of 25 double-decker buses and has so far cost £107 million. But the Met says not to expect to make any arrest anytime soon.
When will we see arrests and will anyone go to jail? Like the delayed Inquiry report, the wait for justice at Grenfell is slow, if it ever comes at all.

After the riots: Rumour, misinformation and distrust fuel fears
On a sunny summer's evening a month ago, fire and fury came to a quiet English market town, writes ITV News Investigations Editor Daniel Hewitt.
Tamworth has never known violence of the kind that exploded on its streets on Sunday, August 4. It followed the killings of young girls in Southport.
Daniel produced a special two-part report into the events that led to an attack on a hotel housing asylum seekers in Tamworth.
You can watch both reports on ITVX - and catch a special edition of our What You Need To Know podcast as Daniel discusses the issue with ITV News Presenter Mary Nightingale:
‘Why is British Gas sending me dozens of bills a day?’

ITV News exposes 'unhealthy and dangerous' accommodation for seasonal farm workers
An ITV News investigation has found workers on some farms are living in homes riddled with mould and dampness, Correspondent Peter Smith reports.
Seasonal workers from Central Asia came to the UK on six month visas to support the country's agricultural sector, and their job was to grow and pick aubergines.
But they were being charged £300 a month per person to live in the caravans they said were "unhealthy and dangerous" - with three workers having to share two beds.
